Nicola Sawyer was born and raised in QLD and graduated from QUT in 1992 with honours. She has professional interests in all aspects of family eye health care including Ocular diseases, Contact Lenses and Paediatrics. She has donated time & expertise for more than 10 years to screen children’s vision at a local preschool and primary school and believes that early intervention can make all the difference in a child’s learning & life potential.
She is a member of the professional body Optometry Australia and regularly attends professional meetings & seminars to keep abreast of advances and changes in the eyecare field. Nicola is a professional supporter of the MDFoundation, who are committed to reducing the incidence and impact of macular disease in Australia, and also Optometry Giving Sight which has so far provided sustainable eye care projects in 38 countries and is helping to transform lives through the gift of vision.
She is also a busy mother of 3 school-age children and enjoys playing squash and spending time outdoors enjoying our beautiful beaches and cycleways.
She has completed the Westpac Charity walk from Byron Bay to Ballina to enjoy our gorgeous coastline, achieve a personal goal & help raise funds for our valuable local service, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
